Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad to Face Police Action for Alleged “Slapgate” Incident

Mumbai Police have initiated proceedings to register a case against Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad following an incident where he allegedly slapped a canteen staff member at the Akashvani MLA canteen. The incident, which is being referred to as “slapgate,” allegedly stemmed from Gaikwad’s dissatisfaction with the quality of the food.

CM Fadnavis Condemns MLA’s Actions

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also reacted to the incident, publicly condemning Gaikwad’s behavior. He emphasized that such actions by an elected representative tarnish the image and reputation of all legislators and are unacceptable.

Police Take Suo Motu Cognizance

The Marine Drive police station took suo motu cognizance of the incident and are currently in the process of registering a case against Gaikwad. The swift action by the police underscores the seriousness of the allegations.
