In a significant move to protect the public from fraudulent spiritual leaders, Uttarakhand police have apprehended over 300 individuals posing as “babas” and “saints” across the Kumaon region. This sweeping operation, dubbed “Operation Kalnemi,” targeted individuals exploiting the faith of others for personal gain.

Operation Spans Six Districts

Inspector General (IG) Kumaon, Riddhim Agarwal, confirmed the operation was carried out across all six districts of the Kumaon region. Authorities meticulously identified those falsely claiming spiritual authority and took swift action.

The operation resulted in a range of legal actions against the accused, including FIRs (First Information Reports), challans (official notices of violation), and preventive detentions.
