Boeing 787 Fuel Switches Under Scrutiny After Air India Crash

Following the release of a preliminary report on the Air India Ahmedabad plane crash, airlines around the world are taking precautionary measures. They are now inspecting the locking mechanisms on the fuel switches of their Boeing 787 aircraft.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) preliminary report has sparked these proactive inspections. While the report doesn’t recommend specific actions for Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, or GE, the engine manufacturer, airlines are taking steps to ensure the safety and airworthiness of their 787 fleets.

Although no immediate action is required by Boeing or GE at this time, the investigation into the Air India incident is ongoing. Airlines are prioritizing passenger safety and are implementing these checks as a precautionary measure while awaiting the final report.
