Chennai Train Chaos: Goods Train Fire Disrupts Commuter Travel

Early morning commuters in Chennai faced unexpected travel disruptions today after a goods train caught fire, impacting services to and from the city. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., causing a ripple effect across the Southern Railways network.

Train Cancellations, Diversions, and Short-Terminations

Southern Railways has taken swift action to manage the situation, announcing a series of adjustments to train schedules. Eight trains departing from Chennai have been cancelled, leaving many passengers scrambling for alternative arrangements. Five other trains have been diverted, adding to the travel time and inconvenience for those onboard. Furthermore, eight more trains have been short-terminated, meaning they will not complete their intended journeys, potentially stranding passengers mid-route.
