Namibian Cheetah, Nabha, Passes Away in Kuno National Park
The Kuno National Park community mourns the loss of Nabha, an eight-year-old female cheetah who was brought from Namibia. She tragically passed away on July 12, 2025, due to injuries likely sustained during a hunting attempt.
Remaining Cheetahs Thriving in Kuno
Despite this sad loss, there is a glimmer of hope for the cheetah reintroduction program. The park is now home to 26 cheetahs, a testament to the ongoing conservation efforts. This includes 17 cubs born in India, all of whom are reported to be healthy and adapting well to their wild surroundings.
A Hopeful Future for Cheetahs in India
While Nabha’s passing is a setback, the successful integration and reproduction of the remaining cheetahs provide encouragement for the future of the species in India.
